Father’s Day is around the corner and just because of lockdown restrictions it doesn’t mean you can’t spoil your dad or spend some quality time with him.

If you are at a loss for ideas, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

• Cook a mouth-watering meal. You might not be able to book him a table at his favourite restaurant but you can step inside the kitchen, don a chef hat and whip up some culinary delights for him to enjoy. Find out what dishes he loves most, stock up on the ingredients (fortunately shops are open for these essentials) and voila, lunch is served.

• Spend quality time together. If you were planning on taking your dad out for the day, unfortunately you might need to change your plans. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun. Get out some board games, put on your dad’s favourite music (even if some of his selections do make you cringe) and have fun as a family. If your father is an outdoors type, you can even arrange a cricket or soccer match in the back garden.

• Plan a movie afternoon. Make some popcorn, get comfortable and spend the afternoon binge watching some of your dad’s favourite movies and series.

• Spoil him. Gifts don’t always need to be big and expensive. Sometimes it is indeed the thought that counts. So just because you might not be able to get him the latest gadget on the market, don’t despair. Rather make him a hamper filled with chocolates, fruit, nuts and biltong. You can finish this gift off with a lovely homemade card to let dad know how much he means to you.
