TOP 5 PICKS WITH PROFESSIONAL RUGBY PLAYER, DILLON SMIT

He’s a professional rugby player by trade, but there’s more to Dillon Smit than what meets the eye! He’s a proud son; brother; husband; and friend to many that know him.

The 26-year old lives by the quote “whatever happens to me, happens for me”.

Most of his time is spent on a rugby field, so when he’s not training or playing rugby, he’s enjoying Joburg and all it has to offer.

But off the field, boasts a softer side to Dillon that many people may not know. We had the privilege of chatting to him and asking him some fun questions in a feature we call, “5 PICKS”.

This is what he had to say…

5 words that describe the lockdown for you?

Never take anything for granted.

5 names of people that have a positive impact on your life of late?

Kim Smit – my incredible mother who always puts her children first.

Suané Smit – my supportive wife who is always there for me.

Shaun Reynolds – one of my closest and dearest friends.

Ramey Short – another one of my dearest and most cherished friends.

Michael Jordan – from ‘The last Dance’. An inspirational must-see.

5 places you have travelled to that people should explore once the lockdown is over?

I would definitely encourage people to explore different parts of our beautiful country. Whether it’s bush, beach or an incredible restaurant, there’s so many amazing places right on our doorstep.

Witsand – a small coastal town situated at the mouth of the Breede River in the Western Cape. It is a good fishing area and is widely considered to be the whale nursery of the South African coastline.

Ski bar in Bedfordview – a great place to head to with your friends.

Clarens (Golden Gate) – nestled in the rolling foothills of the Maluti Mountains of the north-eastern Free State. There’s just so much to do and take in.

Kruger National Park – a true bush experience from the sights, the smells, the sounds and the scenery.

Cape Town – there’s too many places to mention in Cape Town so plan a weekend away and visit as many places as you possibly can from the coast to the winelands.
