February 5 – Make a visit to the Niche Community Market a family affair. The market brings you a diverse group of creative sellers and food traders and is open every Saturday at the Walkerville Showgrounds from 09:00 to 14:00. Stallholders sell products like honey, jams, handmade natural soaps, plants, fresh produce, aloe creams, cookies and biscuits, biltong, koeksisters, fudge and candy floss, as well as a variety of crafted goods. Fresh food vendors include Asian food, boerewors rolls, vetkoek and Indian food. Pop in at the gin bar, enjoy craft beer and ciders and just chill out. The market is pet-friendly. February 11 – Talk to me, ‘A New Musical’ will be staged at the Joburg Theatre from February 11 to March 6 and is proudly presented by Afro Jam with an all-star cast starring Nicholas Nkuna and Lerato Gwebu. This show is created to bring something new to the South African musical theatre industry. Tickets are available from R70 to R150 for all shows. February 12 – It is free, it is fun and best of all it is an opportunity to get going and get fit this year. Join a Parkrun near you and experience the sense of the Parkrun family. Parkrun events are 5km, which you can run or walk and take place on Saturday mornings in parks and open spaces. It is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last. February 17 – Cotlands is hosting a charity golf day to raise funds to help vulnerable children access quality play-based toy libraries and playgroup opportunities before they start formal schooling. The event will take place on February 17 at the prestigious Johannesburg Country Club. Registrations for a four-ball are open and golfers stand a chance to win some great prizes! On the day, golfers will tee-off at different times from just after 11:00 from the first and 10th tee with eight-minute intervals in-between. The course is set in a beautiful bushveld-type setting with natural grasslands and huge rock formations, offering golfers spectacular views of Johannesburg and the Magaliesberg mountain range. February 19 – Unleash the creative you and book for a stained glass workshop in the tranquil settings of Henley on Klip on February 19. Workshops last for about four hours and you will complete a suncatcher, which is yours to keep. All tools and material, as well as for instructions, are provided. Workshops are aimed at people who want to try their hand at the art before they commit to buying the equipment and, of course, at those who want to have an afternoon of fun with friends. February 26 –  Guided walk every fourth Sunday of the month at Kliprivier Nature Reserve. Meet at 07:00 to leave at 07:30 sharp at Precinct Entrance, Peggy Vera Road, at the coffee shop. All fitness levels are catered for this walk, which takes about three hours. Come and enjoy a healthy outdoor experience appreciating nature in the Jewel of the South. Bring water, a hat, a walking stick and sunscreen. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The cost is R50 per adult and R30 for children. Funds raised are used for the upkeep of the reserve.
