The Totalsports Women’s Race is set to light up the streets of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban on National Women’s Day, Wednesday, 9 August 2023, in support of PinkDrive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Totalsports Women\u2019s Race is a fantastic celebration of health and wellness,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cTaking place across three cities on National Women\u2019s Day, each event will feature two fantastic routes, a 5km and 10km, making it accessible to a larger audience. Whether you run it or walk it, the decision is yours, as long as you have a fantastic experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Cape Town<\/strong> the event will start at Grand Parade in front of the Cape Town City Hall. Known to be a little hilly, the 10km route in the Mother City will take runners on a historical journey through District 6, Parliament, and the Company Gardens. The 5km route will also start at Grand Parade and will take runners past District 6. This route is mostly flat with two fair climbs. With the iconic Table Mountain as the backdrop and the fresh sea air, runners and walkers can look forward to falling in love with the Mother City all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJoburg <\/strong>entrants will be challenged by a few more hills than their fellow runners in Cape Town and Durban,\u201d continues Meyer. \u201cThe good news however is that with the hills come the downhills. Whether you\u2019ve entered the 10km or 5km event, you are sure to have a terrific time with family and friends from start to finish. What makes the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race even more special is that you are guaranteed to also make new friends. Both races start and finish at the Mark’s Park Sports Club.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRunners in Durban will be happy to hear that the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race Durban<\/strong> route is fast and flat,\u201d confirms Meyer. \u201cWeather permitting, we are sure to see a number of PBs being set. The 10km route will include Snell Parade, the Promenade and Estuary Pathway. Iconic landmarks to look out for will be the Moses Mabhida Stadium and scenic beach, sea, and river estuary views. Similar to the 10km route, the 5km will also ensure a memorable experience, but won\u2019t include the Promenade and Estuary Path.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>PRIZE PURSE<\/u><\/strong>: <\/strong>The Totalsports Women\u2019s Race will boast an impressive, combined prize purse of R202 500,00 in 2023. That equates to a R67 500,00 prize purse per city (Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban). Prize money has been allocated to the Top Ten finishers in the Open Category, with the Open Winner taking home R12\u00a0000,00, the second-place finisher R10\u00a0000,00 and the third-place finisher R8 000,00. Prize money has also been allocated to the top 3 finishers in the Junior, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ categories.
