{"id":22777,"date":"2024-09-03T12:27:25","date_gmt":"2024-09-03T10:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-south\/?p=22777"},"modified":"2024-09-03T14:39:03","modified_gmt":"2024-09-03T12:39:03","slug":"sapra-confirms-fourth-consecutive-fuel-price-drop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-south\/blog\/2024\/09\/03\/sapra-confirms-fourth-consecutive-fuel-price-drop\/","title":{"rendered":"SAPRA confirms fourth consecutive fuel price drop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Central Energy Fund predictions of yet another fuel drop in September have materialised with prices decreasing from midnight on Tuesday, September 3 by as much as 92 cents for petrol.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Henry van der Merwe, Chairman of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA), representing the interest of numerous petroleum retailers in South Africa and a proud association of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) says the decreases will see Basic Fuel Prices on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin dropping as follows:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The fuel price adjustments for September are:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Petrol 93: 92 c decrease.<\/li>\n<li>Petrol 95: 92c decrease.<\/li>\n<li>Diesel (0.05% sulphur): 79c decrease.<\/li>\n<li>Diesel (0.005% sulphur): 105c decrease.<\/li>\n<li>Illuminating paraffin (wholesale): 103c decrease.<\/li>\n<li>Maximum LPGas retail price: 10c per kilogram decrease.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis is the fourth consecutive month we have seen a decrease with prices continuing to reflect the Rand\u2019s growing strength throughout August against the US Dollar during the period under review as well as the much lower oil price. \u201cThe price of 95 petrol has in fact decreased by R3,30 from May \u2013 September. The global oil price has proven more balanced in August, despite its own market fluctuations,\u201d says van der Merwe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFluctuating fuel costs impact every sector of society as they directly translate into higher\/lower operational costs for businesses and impact the cost of living for consumers. Small businesses are often hardest hit when fuel goes up, as are commuters.
