True beauty blooms from the inside out. Whether she\u2019s planting trees, cooking with family or reflecting on the year gone by, she\u2019s living proof that love and purpose make life truly radiant.<\/p>\n

At just 22 years old, Jenique Botha, newly crowned Miss Earth South Africa 2025 was announced as one of the world\u2019s TOP 25 Beauties at the International Miss Earth which took place in the Philippines last month.<\/p>\n

Jenique has become a symbol of grace, intelligence, and environmental passion. Yet behind the dazzling crown lies a story deeply rooted in family, faith and an unwavering belief in hard work.<\/p>\n

Growing up in Edenvale, Jenique\u2019s childhood was filled with curiosity and ambition. At school she eagerly took part in every activity, from public speaking and athletics to eisteddfods and netball. \u2018My proudest moment was when I was chosen to be the school\u2019s head girl,\u2019 says Jenique.<\/p>\n

Her love of participation continued through high school, where she thrived, \u2018In my matric year, I served as deputy head girl of sport, captained the cheerleading team and played for the first netball team, loving every moment,\u2019 she says.<\/p>\n

Family first<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For Jenique, family has always been her foundation. She was fortunate to grow up in a loving, supportive home where her family encouraged them all to work hard but also to pursue what made them happy. \u2018We\u2019re a very close family and still enjoy spending holidays together.<\/p>\n

Those moments remind me how lucky I am to have been raised in such a nurturing home,\u2019 she shares.<\/p>\n

She describes the Bothas as vibrant, adventurous and always on the move. Travelling, exploring new cultures and trying new foods have always been ways for them to connect. \u2018My parents are not just our role models but also our best friends,\u2019 she adds.<\/p>\n

As the youngest and only girl, Jenique grew up under the watchful eyes of her two older brothers. \u2018We called ourselves the \u2018Mini Bothas\u2019. They\u2019ve taught me resilience, humour and to always stand my ground but with kindness.\u2019<\/p>\n

Law and leadership<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Alongside her duties as Miss Earth South Africa, Jenique is completing her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at North-West University, having already earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Law.<\/p>\n

Inspired by her father, a practising lawyer, she found herself drawn to the world of justice and advocacy.<\/p>\n

Her passion for law and the environment soon intertwined. \u2018What truly persuaded me was understanding how law touches every aspect of our lives,\u2019 she explains. \u2018It\u2019s constantly evolving and adapting.\u2019<\/p>\n

Balancing academics, advocacy and pageantry is no small feat, but Jenique approaches it with discipline. \u2018Studying law requires full commitment, there is rarely a quiet moment – The key for me is organisation and planning.\u2019<\/p>\n

Crown with a cause<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Winning Miss Earth South Africa 2025 was both a dream come true and a call to action. \u201cIt is such an honour and a privilege,\u201d she says. \u2018But I\u2019m also aware of the great responsibility that comes with it. I\u2019m not just representing this brand but also the sponsors and communities behind it.<\/p>\n

\u2018From the moment I was crowned, everything has been joyful and humbling. I\u2019ve already been presented with incredible opportunities and I know that even more meaningful moments will follow.\u2019<\/p>\n

Her mission is to work more in communities, helping to change the minds of young people and inspire them to protect our Earth.<\/p>\n

Planting seeds of change<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Jenique\u2019s journey into pageantry began at just 12 years old. Over the years, her interest grew into passion and what inspired her most was being surrounded by people with purpose.<\/p>\n

When she discovered Miss Earth South Africa, she knew it was the right fit. Everything about the organisation resonated with her. \u2018It\u2019s not just another pageant; it\u2019s a movement empowering women to lead, educate and advocate for a greener, more sustainable future,\u2019 adds Jenique.<\/p>\n

Winning Miss Earth South Africa was the culmination of years of dedication. \u2018It was never just about the title,\u2019 she says. \u2018It was about the growth it took to get there. One of her proudest moments was participating in the organisation\u2019s Mandela Day Project, collecting food for those in need.\u2019 My primary school, M.W. de Wet, joined in and I had the privilege of returning to speak to the learners about giving back. Their enthusiasm was infectious and it led to an invitation to plant trees with them too.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tree planting has since become one of her favourite activities and she has done plantings in communities with Samsonite, Skin Renewal and Cathay Pacific. \u2018It\u2019s amazing how something so simple can ignite such excitement,\u2019 she says. When she\u2019s not studying or fulfilling her duties, Jenique finds peace in creativity and compassion. She also volunteers at a local cat shelter, describing it as \u2018deeply fulfilling\u2019.<\/p>\n

Festive reflections<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As the year draws to a close, Jenique looks forward to her family\u2019s beloved festive traditions. \u2018It\u2019s definitely my favourite time of the year, she shares. For the past 20 years, the family has travelled to the same coastal destination, their \u2018second home\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s a time to relax, play games and reconnect with the true meaning of Christmas,\u2019 she adds. \u2018We often visit nearby communities where children study in dimly lit classrooms, yet their smiles are bright and their spirits high. It\u2019s a humbling reminder of how important it is to give back.\u2019<\/p>\n

Each year, they host a festive feast where everyone brings a dish or dessert. \u2018My favourites are malva and Cremora pudding oh and peppermint crisp tart.<\/p>\n

\u2018My grandparents taught me how to make them, it\u2019s a sweet tradition that always tastes like home.\u2019<\/p>\n

Looking ahead<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As she reflects on a whirlwind year, one that included travels to Thailand and the Philippines. Jenique feels grateful. \u2018This year has taught me the power of faith and the importance of trusting in timing. Everything happens for a reason. Even the moments that test us prepare us for something greater.<\/p>\n

\u2018To my family, friends, mentors, sponsors and the incredible Miss Earth South Africa organisation – thank you from the bottom of my heart. You\u2019ve reminded me that no journey is ever walked alone and behind every woman who shines is a community that lifts her higher.\u2019<\/p>\n

As Jenique Botha steps into the next chapter of her journey, she carries with her the same warmth, resilience and hope that have defined her story from the start – proving that true beauty lies not in the crown, but in the heart that wears it.<\/p>\n
