{"id":24860,"date":"2026-08-24T13:49:04","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T11:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-south\/?p=24860"},"modified":"2026-08-24T13:51:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T11:51:14","slug":"rand-airport-airshow-returns-to-germiston-after-three-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-south\/blog\/2026\/08\/24\/rand-airport-airshow-returns-to-germiston-after-three-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Rand Airport Airshow returns to Germiston after three years"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rand Airport Airshow returns to Germiston on Sunday, August 30, marking its first event since 2023 after a three-year break.<\/p>\r\n<p>The much-anticipated airshow promises a full day of aviation displays, entertainment and family activities, with gates opening at 08:00 and the flying programme running from 10:00 to 15:30.<\/p>\r\n<p>Visitors can expect aerial displays by some of South Africa&#8217;s best-known display pilots and aircraft, including the Rand Airport-based Puma Flying Lions, Harvards, Master Power Extra 330s and the classic Beech 18.<\/p>\r\n<p>The programme features a mix of aerobatics, historic aircraft and high-energy flying performances throughout the day.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-392025\" src=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2026\/08\/Rand-Airport-5-800x569.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Visitors can enjoy historic aircraft, aerial performances and family entertainment throughout the day. Photo: Supplied<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond the flying displays, visitors can explore static aircraft exhibitions, while flight schools will showcase training programmes and career opportunities in the aviation industry.<\/p>\r\n<p>Essential Fuels, the event&#8217;s headline sponsor, says supporting the airshow is about inspiring future generations.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re proud to be the headline sponsor of this year&#8217;s Rand Airport Airshow, an event that brings people together to celebrate the excitement and possibility of aviation,&#8221; says Essential Fuels general manager Paul Kruger.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;Supporting the airshow is about more than aircraft and displays. It&#8217;s about opening young eyes to a world of opportunity, sparking curiosity about the industry and showing the many career paths aviation can offer.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<p>Food and drinks will be available throughout the day, while a dedicated beer tent will offer visitors a place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-392024\" src=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2026\/08\/Rand-Airport-4-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Rand Airport Airshow returns to Germiston on August 30 after a three-year break.
