{"id":3110,"date":"2019-12-11T09:31:04","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T07:31:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-south\/?p=3110"},"modified":"2024-05-28T15:50:49","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T13:50:49","slug":"mushroom-gravy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-south\/blog\/2019\/12\/11\/mushroom-gravy\/","title":{"rendered":"Mushroom Gravy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3 tablespoons butter<br \/>\n3 cups thinly sliced portabellini mushrooms<br \/>\n1\/2 cup finely chopped onion<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic minced<br \/>\n3 tablespoons all purpose flour<br \/>\n3 cups (750ml) mushroom or chicken stock<br \/>\n2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves<br \/>\nsalt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a large saucepan heat oil over medium high heat. Saut\u00e9 mushrooms and onions until they are nicely browned. Add in garlic and stir until fragrant.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Whisk in stock and scrape up all the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Reduce to a simmer.<\/p>\n<p>Simmer until thickened, then remove from heat. Add in the fresh thyme leaves and season to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Serve with your favourite festive meal.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mushroom Gravy \u2013 pair this recipe with L\u2019Ormarins Brut MCC<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This MCC is an utter delight with food. Fresh and lively with hints of brioche and apple make it a dream for a festive meal. The rich mushroom gravy is complemented by the ripe fruit and fresh lime character in this wine. This wine is incredibly vibrant and well balanced which makes it a perfect match for the intensely savoury mushroom gravy.
