We’re fussy travellers … and have a long list of non-negotiables when we travel for business or pleasure. And in Umhlanga’s The Capital Pearls, we’ve found a real gem (see what we did there!).
It has everything, and we mean everything, we need. There’s a selection of rooms depending on when we visit and who we’re travelling with (from studios when we’re there alone for a day or two doing business, through to between one and four bedroom apartments when we’re with the whole family shebang … think noisy grandkids and tired in-laws). You can eat in (there’s 24-hour in-room dining, and the apartments have fully equipped kitchens) or pop downstairs and within a stone’s throw you’ll find dozens of restaurants for all tastes. There’s a kids’ play area, complimentary entrance to Planet Fitness (work off that breakfast!), and (be still my beating heart) more than 60 shops in The Pearls Mall. And so, so much more. Splashed champers on your evening dress … a laundry service. Kids want to go back to the beach … a comp shuttle service within a five km radius. An urgent work mail … high-speed Wi-Fi. Add a resort pool, a pool deck and bar, and Indian Ocean views to take your breath away and you’ve got the (postcard) picture. Rates obviously vary hugely depending on type of room and time of visit.
