We spend more than half our day in the office and for most of us, it’s like a second home. Since we spend so much time at the office, we want to decorate and personalise our office space but it’s important to keep in mind that it’s still a professional space.

Here are five tips for organising and personalising your office space to make you feel at home and improve productivity:

  1. Organise, organise, organise. Nothing says ‘messy head’ like a messy desk. While a cluttered desk kan decreases productivity it also looks very unprofessional. Sort out your drawers, throw away the old chocolate wrappers and invest in file organisers to clean up your desk space. Organisers and pencil holders are the perfect way to bring a pop of colour to your desk.
  2. Don’t go overboard on the personal items, and make sure to keep work front and centre. Stick to only one family photo and decorate the rest of your desk with a trinket, coffee mug or an art piece that represents your personality.
  3. Nothing says home like a bit of greenery. A small potted plant can be just the thing to boost your productivity and make you feel at home.
  4. In addition to a good desk chair, a comfortable pillow and throw will make you feel comfy and cosy.
  5. Make sure that there are no stacks of documents, books or boxes insight. Shove them under your desk, store it in your drawers or put them in the cupboard until you get time to sort through it. You will automatically feel more at home when your office is neat and tidy.
