A milk alternative that tastes amazing

Now here’s an ethical milk alternative that is non-allergenic, has a superior nutrient profile, and tastes amazing… While it might be new to most of us, Camel’s milk has been consumed by nomadic and Bedouin cultures for hundreds of years and is now rapidly gaining popularity around the world.

Free from Beta-lactoglobulin, the main allergen in cow’s milk, camel milk has more Vitamin C, B6, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium than cow’s milk, and more protein. It also has low milk sugar lactose along with superior fat content, and the natural antibiotics in camel milk keep it fresher for longer.

Camel milk is also much easier to digest, as it contains A2 casein which the human body can break down more easily than the difficult-to-digest A1 casein protein.  Many of the health advantages in drinking camel’s milk, are thanks to the immunoglobulins present in camel’s milk, that prevent microbial growth in the gut, lowering inflammation and supporting immune health. Considerable research has also revealed that the medical benefits of regular camel milk consumption include its ability to manage diabetes, stimulate circulation, assist in the treatment of autism, lessen allergic reactions, promote growth and development, protect against certain autoimmune diseases and boost heart health.

Slightly sweet, rich and creamy, camel’s milk is very comparable to cow’s milk and is available in South Africa in powder produced by Camel Milk South Africa, who pasteurise and spray dry the milk from free-roaming camels, so it’s also available in powdered form in 100g tubs. The camels are located on a remote farm in the Kalahari where the dry climate is ideal, and they are able to forage naturally on over 50 different varieties of trees, shrubs and wild grasses, which affords them naturally robust immune systems, and happy, healthy camels produce the best nutritious milk!

Camel’s Milk is available online at www.camelmilksaouthafrica.co.za or www.takealot.com or from various stores listed here https://camelmilksouthafrica.co.za/online-shop/fresh-milk/ for around R220 for 100g.
