Give the gift of stylish décor this festive season, by helping to fill your loved one’s home with a few of their favourite things.
Alon Sachs, co-founder of Mobelli Furniture + Living has a few tips to help you choose the perfect treat to put under the tree:
1. Green is always gold
A popular trend in decorating and colour palettes this season is using green foliage and gifting someone a bit of greenery is always a good idea, says Sachs.
“Planters with modern designs that have self-watering systems so your plants can look after themselves are ideal gifts: Not only are they eco-friendly, but they will complement any space,” he says.
Alternatively, consider bringing nature indoors through décor items with wooden finishes, such as tea light holders with wooden bases or reclaimed wood pieces as a focal point of a room.
2. Let it shine
Metallic accents are the perfect décor touch to gift a loved one with this season. Consider metallic accessories, such as plates or vases, as a gift for loved ones who enjoy entertaining.
However, do consider your loved one’s tastes – try to match your gift with the current colour palette in their space, to ensure they can get the most use out of it, Sachs suggests.
3. Make a statement
Vases are a wonderful way to create a focal point on your table or make a statement in a room. Gorgeous vases that add a pop of colour and great options for deco savvy friends and family.
Vases are also great gifts for those with smaller spaces. Sachs suggests buying sizes that will work in your friends’ spaces.
“This goes for any décor item you may be gifting a friend. If they live in a small apartment or house, for instance, don’t go for big items. Rather purchase small décor items, such as bold vases, lanterns or tea light holders,” he adds.
4. Plump it up
Beautifully designed scatter cushions are great gift choices, says Sachs.
Look for textures to speak to the current trend and don’t only focus on indoor. If your friend loves entertaining outdoors, spoil them with some statement outdoor cushions in a hardwearing, good quality outdoor fabric. The extra layer of comfort will ensure hours of lazing outside during the warm summer weather.
“Always consider the environment and needs of the person you are planning to purchase décor (or furniture items) for. A little bit of thought into their style goes a long way and will ensure you leave them with a gift that will give them many great memories,” Sachs concludes.
