Lockdown locks

Salons are open (three cheers!) but for some of us, a weekly or even monthly visit isn’t possible. Here are the products we’re using at home.

Vegan, made with 100 per cent natural cold-pressed oils, free from all things artificial … the new Nature Box range is really fabulous. Priced from R100 from takealot.com

Two Oceans has an excellent, affordable range of hair care products, and during lockdown we’ve been using Two Oceans Keratin + Argan Range – Hydra Smooth. There’s a smooth shampoo which hydrates, shines and softens your hair and scalp. Infused with antioxidants to deeply condition and revive your hair for soft, glossy results, we found our hair soft and moisturised. The conditioner is infused with vegetable-derived keratin and argan oil, which is naturally rich in vitamins E, F, A & C, so helps to replenish and condition. R99.95 each for a massive 1000ml, from Dis-Chem, Pick n Pay and Checkers.

If you want to look as if you’ve just stepped out of the salon, you really do need to use the right tools. And there’s nothing better than the new ghd Helios professional hairdryer. Light and fast, it offers ultra-powerful drying and ultimate styling control … exactly what we want. Features include technology for reduced frizz and flyaways, a cool shot button for a quick blast of air to fix your style, a contoured nozzle for a concentrated airflow – and it’s really quiet, too. It comes in four colours – black, navy, white and this rich, deep burgundy, and costs R2900 from hair salons. An exceptionally good buy … great quality, and these dryers last forever. And while we’re using ghd (at every opportunity!).

We rave, too, about the Heat Protect Spray (R280), the Smooth and Finish Serum (a lifesaver for those of us with frizz, R280), and the classic Paddle Brush, for mid to long hair … its broad, flat base lets you blow-dry large sections of hair smooth and straight (R400). All from ghdhair.com
