Staycation? Don’t know what to do with the kiddos? Then head over to Forest Hill Shopping Centre. Why? Because the whole family can have heaps of fun under just one roof! School holidays are here so it just made sense for Matthew-Lee and Katy-Leigh Taljaard to pull in at Forest Hill for a jam-packed day of entertainment. Boy, were they in for a treat!

The ultimate playground
Matthew-Lee and Katy-Leigh were in for a serious hit of fun at the Super Games Arcade … a dedicated entertainment area nestled within the shopping centre. Their excitement when entering the Games Arcade was so infectious! The arcade offers hours of fun in the form of bumper cars, a bowling alley, pool tables, X-Rider and all the classic arcade games. Kids, and adults, are bound to have a blast racing, shooting villains, catch ‘n grab, shooting hoops, dancing and catching bass. All in a bid to score as many tickets as possible in hope of getting the most colourful prizes. There is even a chill zone to take a quick breather before trying your luck at the next game!

Ice ice baby
Smiling from ear to ear, Matthew-Lee simply could not wait to get his chill on at the ice rink … and hey, although only five years old, super cute Katy-Leigh was as eager as her big brother. With the Penguin aid, she confidently stepped onto the ice and quickly showed she was not scared one inch. This Olympic-size ice rink is incredible, well maintained and suitable for beginners up to the pros. So, simply put on the skates and even if you don’t know how to skate, it’s great fun. Yes, you probably will make a fool of yourself, but who cares, right?

A family-friendly feast
Whether you have built up an appetite after hitting the shops or whizzing over the ice rink, refuel with a feast at one of the many dining options within the shopping centre. Finding a spot that the whole family will enjoy can often prove tricky, especially with fussy little eaters, but according to Matthew-Lee and Katy-Leigh, the Eagle Rock Spur Steak Ranch never fails on the foodie front. Spur has proved so often that they are certainly a kiddies paradise … the play canyon is kitted out with the coolest modular play systems and climbing activities, as well as digital gadgets to keep them entertained for hours. Parents can indulge in some mouth-watering dishes (think their legendary steaks!) while the kids get rid of all that pent-up energy under the watchful eyes of the play canyon attendant. All the required health and safety measures are in place to make sure the kids have a Spurrif time! If you’re in a rush to feed tiny mouths, you cannot go wrong with grabbing a quick bite at any of the shopping centre’s various food options, and there certainly is something to suit all taste buds.

Surf’s up!
Who needs a beach when you can practise your surfing skills at the heated Wave Pool? Matthew-Lee did just that … acing his surfing skills and having massive amounts of fun. The pool has different levels to choose from and perfectly emulates ocean waves … without any sharks of course. So come and catch a wave, bodyboard or surf your way to fun at the Wave Pool. There is an instructor on site to guide you where needed, and even shaded spots for the parents to keep an eye.

Even though we’re just highlighting four firm family favourites, there really is ample reasons why Forest Hill should top your list to shop, dine and play. But why not go and see for yourself? Parking is free all day, every day. Bonus!
