Spend some time doing your homework on safety ratings and crash test results to help you find a car that your family will be secure in.<\/p>\n<p><b>Fuel efficiency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: In most cases, petrol is a car\u2019s highest running cost, so fuel efficiency should play a major role in choosing your new car. Furthermore, with the current advances <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> automotive hybrid and electric technologies, consider downsizing to a PHEV or EV \u2013 it may save a lot of money in fuel in the long run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Maintenance and service plans:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The second-biggest cost of ownership is maintenance.
