We all have the usual breakfast foods we continuously reach for, but this can get a little bland when repeated too often.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">That\u2019s why shaking things up every now and again is so important. By making small changes to your morning routine, you\u2019ll soon find that breakfast is indeed the most exciting meal of the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Change your scenery<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Breakfast time is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and use the quiet time to set your intentions for the day. You\u2019ll love sitting on the patio, breathing in the sweet aroma of blossoms, or watching the birds and insects make their way back after the chill of winter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Just this simple change of scenery can lead to much more than a rekindled love of breakfast. Recent research shows that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/06\/14\/study-new-experiences-and-scenery-can-boost-your-well-being.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">variety is linked to positive emotions<\/a>, and that simple changes to our routines could make us feel happier. Turning breakfast into an occasion and enjoying it on the porch instead of wolfing it down at the kitchen counter can give you a new perspective on life, your goals or even help mentally prepare you for that morning Zoom meeting you\u2019re dreading.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Shake it up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you just need a quick and easy fix on the go, switch it up with a shake, smoothie, overnight oats or a breakfast muffin. Make sure your breakfast has enough protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals to meet your nutritional needs. Up to 30 per cent of our total daily kilojoule intake should come from protein and we should aim to meet the recommended daily fibre intake of 25 \u2013 30 grams a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Eating a protein and fibre rich breakfast helps slows the release of hormones that trigger the feelings of hunger. It also increases the release of satiety hormones, helping you feel fuller for longer. That means fewer snack attacks and more opportunities to reach your health goals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Try different recipes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Why not use breakfast as an opportunity to try different recipes you\u2019ve never had before? There\u2019s no reason why you can\u2019t have breakfast muffins, whole-grain French toast, waffles, pancakes or shakes that combine new ingredients. If you have a website or cookbook you love, it might be fun to cook through all the breakfast recipes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It is a good idea to put together a menu for the week so that you have something to look forward to every morning. Prepare these recipes the night before or set out all the ingredients to shortening preparation time in the morning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Planning makes perfect<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you don\u2019t have the right ingredients on hand, you\u2019ll have no choice but to fall back into old eating habits. Stock your fridge, freezer and pantry with healthy breakfast options and plan what you\u2019d like to make for breakfast every week. That way you\u2019ll always have what you need for a great start to the day. <a href=\"https:\/\/ijbnpa.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12966-017-0461-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Research shows that planning meals in this way is associated with healthier eating<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Out of ideas? Get Instagramming<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">There\u2019s no shame in admitting you\u2019re all out of ideas to spruce up your breakfast routine.
