A safe, luxurious stay at The Parkwood…

We’re massive fans of Joburg, but know not everyone shares our love. And right now, a trip – work or otherwise – up to the City of Gold brings with it more apprehension than excitement.  But … we may just change your mind. Because we’ve discovered a best-kept-Joburg-secret hotel which is fantastic.

The Parkwood – a boutique hotel in the quiet, pretty suburb of the same name – is an exceptional spot to book if  you’re flying into Joburg for meetings, to visit family, or if you’re heading in for a small event.

It’s intimate, but bigger than it appears on first impression. Spread out over three properties, there are 16 rooms, all of which open to the outdoors, some with quiet, private enclosed patios. There are plenty of outdoor areas with soft comfy sofas and twinkly fairy lights and lush vegetation where you can sit and have an afterwork drink, or a zoom meeting, or read a magazine. Indoors, the sofas are placed in front of roaring fires – equally cosy. In warmer weather, the loungers alongside the pools beckon (work be damned!).

It’s really just like staying at a beautifully decorated home … (heck, maybe  better!).  No lifts or restaurants or busy bars … just sprawling good taste, a lovely dining room where you’ll have breakfast and (by prior arrangement, and only should there be sufficient demand) dinner and a small honesty bar and coffee nook.

The owner-run hotel is particularly – quite rightly – obsessed with Covid safety, from the UV ozone generators used to sanitise all rooms to the singular packaged breakfasts, and an instant check-in and out to limit unnecessary interactions.

So … intimate, safe, luxurious … there’s nothing not to love about The Parkwood, and we’ll bet that once you’ve stayed here, it’ll be your first option for all future visits.

Rates from R2495, including breakfast. Quote GET IT when booking and you’ll qualify for a 20 per cent discount (it’s a pleasure).  Corporate rates also available.

Details: 011-880-1748 or theparkwood.com 72 Worcester Road, Parkwood, Joburg.
