Henrico Coetzer, with his unique voice, was the name on everyone’s lips as one of the top 8 finalists in the second season of the kykNET talent competition, Maak My Famous… and he’s got no plans to leave the spotlight anytime soon.

He released his brand new single, Hoor My Woorde, today and the prediction is that it is going to spread like wildfire.

The twenty-seven-year-old singer of Pretoria’s unique velvety voice is the perfect match for this upbeat Afrikaans track that was specially written for him by one of South Africa’s best songwriters, Vaughan Gardiner.

Hoor My Woorde is a beautiful pop arrangement that was created to show fans that he is positive about the future and has a lot of plans up his sleeve.

The catchy tune is not only a pleasure to listen to but also remains in your head long after hearing it for the first time and invites you to sing along.

‘It is an enjoyable Afrikaans song, with a deep story. It shows that my time is now. Although I was disappointed about leaving ‘Maak My Famous’, I won’t let it get me down. I am ready for the industry, going to give it everything I have and be the best I can be. It is a song of hope,’ he explains the meaning behind the track.

‘I told Vaughan exactly what my purpose with the song was and he wrote it exactly the way I wanted it. Now is the time to show who I am, with a song keeps me in the spotlight.’

Hoor My Woorde is his third single and follows in the successful footsteps of his previous hit, Soos Reën, which topped the charts of several radio stations. It is also his first new song since the release of his second album, Dis wie ek is…, in 2015.

Henrico, who has been singing and writing songs from a young age, always knew that he wanted to be a musician. He received vocal coaching from the tenor, Chris Coetzer (Three Tenors), and has shared stages with the likes of Bobby and Karlien van Jaarsveld, Theuns Jordaan, Corlea Botha and many others since the age of eighteen.

The artist was also a regular performer at the Blouhond Theatre in Pretoria and was part of the Droomkind stage production in which Bobby van Jaarsveld played the lead.

Although he has participated in several talent competitions in the past, he is glad that he never gave up and decided to enter Make My Famous, which he considers one of the highlights of his nine-year career in the music industry.

‘I never expected in my wildest dreams that I would make it to the top 10 of the competition, but I am so happy that I did because it was an incredible adventure. I discovered the real Henrico, learned who and what I am and where I am going. The music industry is not easy, but everything is possible if you have perseverance and are willing to work hard,’ he says and reveals that doing a beautiful piano version of Eden’s Superhero with Pedro Kruger was one of his greatest moments on the show.

Josh Groban, Tarryn Lamb, Elvis Blue, Adèle and Corlea Botha are all artists that he admires because he enjoys listening to deeper music that tells a story. He would also like to record a duet with Tarryn someday.

Hoor My Woorde will soon be available on all digital platforms.
