An aparthotel on the Atlantic seaboard…

There are just so many reasons why a trip to the Mother City is an exceptional idea. Anytime, really, but in December, with the long days, warm weather and cosmopolitan vibe, there’s nowhere to beat it.

And there are so many reasons, we’ve discovered, why you should consider your Cape Town base the Latitude Aparthotel – the newest, and certainly one of the most instagrammable hotels – at the end of Cape Town’s most iconic strip in Sea Point.

Firstly, you’re in Cape Town … you want the views. And views you’ll have … of Lions Head, Robben Island, and if you’re in the Penthouse suite, of the entire glorious, glittering city.

Then there’s the whole aparthotel appeal. It’s self-catering apartments. With all you’d expect and need. One, two or three bedrooms, tastefully decorated – all plush velveteen sofas, soft white linens, sleek granite counter tops, with fully-fitted kitchens, spacious dining tables, built-in dishwashers and Nespresso machines. In some of the apartments, there are balconies with braai facilities; all have work stations and high speed Wi-Fi, so that important Zoom call isn’t a prob.

But then … there’s the added comfort of hotel. There’s a cafe for where you can start your day with breakfast and a view, a sensational pool deck with kick-back patio loungers (here’s the Instagram shot), meeting rooms and co-working areas. If you’re really swish, book the penthouse … great for events, with a private pool and that top-of-the-world feeling.

Rates from R1889 for a standard one bedroom per night to R4261 for a superior three-bedroom per night.
