{"id":17900,"date":"2023-08-30T12:00:25","date_gmt":"2023-08-30T10:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/pretoria\/?p=17900"},"modified":"2023-08-28T17:08:38","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T15:08:38","slug":"a-mid-week-treat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/pretoria\/blog\/2023\/08\/30\/a-mid-week-treat\/","title":{"rendered":"A mid-week treat"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Whether you&#8217;re week so far was tough, or you&#8217;ve been taking it in your stride &#8230; either way you and your loved ones deserve a treat.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Turkish yoghurt cake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>15 ml (1 Tbsp) softened butter, for greasing<br \/>\n4 eggs, separated<br \/>\n\u00bd cup of sugar<br \/>\n45 ml (3 Tbsp) flour, sifted<br \/>\n1 \u00bd cups Full Cream Greek Yoghurt<br \/>\nGrated zest of 1 lemon<br \/>\nJuice of 1 lemon<br \/>\n2.5 ml (\u00bd tsp) orange extract<br \/>\nmixed with 1 tsp (5 ml) water<br \/>\n4 naartjies, peeled &amp; segmented<br \/>\nIcing sugar, to dust<br \/>\nWhipped fresh cream, to serve<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 180\u00b0C and grease a 20 cm springform cake pan with softened butter.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, add the egg yolks and sugar and use a hand beater to beat until the mixture is pale in colour and fluffy.<\/li>\n<li>Gradually add the flour to the egg yolk mixture, followed by the Greek yoghurt, lemon zest, lemon juice and orange extract.<\/li>\n<li>Using a clean bowl and beaters, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold the egg whites into the yoghurt mixture and pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange the naartjie segments on top and bake for 50 minutes, or until the top of the cake starts to brown.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the cake pan completely before removing.<\/li>\n<li>Dust with icing sugar once cool and serve with fresh whipped cream<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>This recipe is supplied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rediscoverdairy.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rediscover Dairy<\/a>, an initiative of the Consumer Education Project of Milk SA.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whether you&#8217;re week so far was tough, or you&#8217;ve been taking it in your stride &#8230; either way you and your loved ones deserve a treat.
