{"id":21995,"date":"2025-06-11T12:36:58","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T10:36:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-west\/?p=21941"},"modified":"2025-06-11T12:38:02","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T10:38:02","slug":"crunchy-cheesy-and-totally-easy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/pretoria\/blog\/2025\/06\/11\/crunchy-cheesy-and-totally-easy\/","title":{"rendered":"Crunchy, cheesy and totally easy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spoil dad this Father\u2019s Day with a warm, cheesy baguette bursting with flavour \u2013 an easy-to-make treat the kids can help create.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Melted mozzarella and mushroom loaded baguette<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Serves 8<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ll need: <\/strong>1 large fresh white baguette, cut into 3 individual portions; 3 Tbsp butter, softened; 1 brown onion, sliced; 1 green bell pepper, sliced; 1 red bell pepper, sliced; 250g Portabello mushrooms, thickly sliced; 1 tsp mixed dried herbs; 1 cup (125g) mozzarella cheese, grated; olive oil; salt and pepper, to taste<\/p>\n<p><strong>To make:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preheat your oven to the grill setting.<\/p>\n<p>Slice the baguette portions in half lengthways and spread butter on the cut sides. Toast them in a pan over medium-low heat or on the top oven rack until golden and crisp. Set aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a large pan, saut\u00e9 the mushrooms in olive oil until golden brown. Season with herbs, salt, and pepper. Set aside.\u00a0In the same pan, saut\u00e9 the onion and peppers for about 5 minutes until softened.<\/p>\n<p>To assemble, place the bottom halves of the baguettes on a baking sheet. Layer with onions and peppers, a sprinkle of cheese, then mushrooms, and another sprinkle of cheese.
