This Winter, 5FM\u2019s 5 Breakfast is turning up the volume on heritage, hustle and hometown pride with #5FMBrassRoots – a nationwide call to find South Africa\u2019s best brass band. From the biggest metros to the smallest towns, 5FM is hunting for the loudest, proudest, and boldest beat in Mzansi.<\/p>\n

Brass bands are more than music – they\u2019re culture in motion. And now, community and school-based bands from across the country can step into the spotlight by submitting a 90-second video covering a popular South African hit that stirs national pride. Think anything that encapsulates and celebrates youth through local & international bangers, classics, and current top charts\u2026 and anything that brings goosebumps and gets feet stomping.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrass music is real, raw, rooted and ravingly popular\u201d says Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM. \u201cAt 5FM, we believe in championing youth voices and local sounds that connect generations. This campaign is a celebration of South African energy – our rhythm, our roots, our ROCKSTARS of brass.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entries open from 16\u201327 June via the 5FM website<\/a> and app. The top entries will be featured live on-air and online, with a panel selecting the five that really stand out from the crowd. Then, it\u2019s over to the public – one final vote to decide who gets crowned SA\u2019s Best Brass Bosses, with the Grand Brass Finale on 25 July.<\/p>\n
