{"id":22411,"date":"2025-11-13T10:46:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T08:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-north\/?p=21664"},"modified":"2025-11-13T10:46:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T08:46:07","slug":"life-size-lego-mercedes-amg-f1-car-lands-in-sa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/pretoria\/blog\/2025\/11\/13\/life-size-lego-mercedes-amg-f1-car-lands-in-sa\/","title":{"rendered":"Life-size Lego Mercedes-AMG F1 car lands in SA"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Built using over 192 000 Lego bricks, the incredible life-sized Lego Mercedes-AMG F1 car has arrived in South Africa &#8211; allowing Lego fans to experience the engineering masterpiece up close.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Lego South Africa has pulled off its most ambitious project to date, shipping a detailed, up-scaled Lego Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance build from Singapore to South Africa, marking the largest life-size Lego build ever brought into the country.<\/p>\n<p>The grand reveal was held at the Mercedes-Benz experience centre at Zwartkops Raceway, where media and motoring enthusiasts gathered to witness the grand unboxing of the iconic build.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reveal forms part of Lego South Africa\u2019s ongoing commitment to celebrating creativity and innovation through play,\u201d said Valery Kasimov, the newly appointed country manager for Lego South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis collaboration between Lego South Africa and Mercedes-Benz is built on shared values of precision, performance and excellence,\u201d says Claudius Steinhoff, Executive Director MBC &amp; Co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa. \u201cThe Lego Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 car celebrates our achievements at the pinnacle of motorsport and reflects the innovation, craftsmanship and passion that unite both brands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-21665\" src=\"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-north\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2025\/11\/LEGO\u00ae-Technic-Mercedes-AMG-F1-W14-E-Performance-car.1-1-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bringing the build to life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based on the 1642-piece Lego set available in stores, the scaled-up Lego Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance build took a team of expert builders eight hours to assemble.<\/p>\n<p>The team used a total of 192 937 Lego bricks, resulting in a build weighing approximately 913 kilograms and measuring 5.1 metres in length and 2.2 metres in width.<\/p>\n<p>The result is a breathtaking replica that mirrors the sleek aerodynamic lines, intricate details and striking presence of its real-world Mercedes-AMG counterpart, a true fusion of art, engineering and play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A roadshow unlike any other <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The excitement doesn\u2019t stop here, as the big build is gearing up and heading on a nationwide tour around South Africa. The spectacular build will pop up at select malls across South Africa, allowing Lego fans to experience the engineering masterpiece up close. Additionally, fans can challenge their speed and reflexes with an exciting line up of Lego activities, including:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Build Station: design and build your own Lego race cars<\/li>\n<li>Championship racing: a high-speed ramp with precision timing systems and a digital leaderboard<\/li>\n<li>Reflex challenge: test your reaction times, mirroring real driver skills<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A pop-up Lego store that lets everyone unleash their creativity The grand public showcase kicks off at Nelson Mandela Square from 16 November to 3 December, before moving to Gateway Shopping Centre in Durban from 12 December to 5 January. It will then travel to Cape Town\u2019s V&amp;A Waterfront from 15 to 25 January, before concluding back in Johannesburg at Sandton City from 5 to 28 February.<\/p>\n<p>The Lego Group continues to connect fans of racing and design, inviting builders of all ages to recreate the world\u2019s most iconic performance cars at home.
