Ernie Els recently visited the North Coast – we caught up with him for a quick chat.
Golf legend Ernie Els has partnered with Zimbali Lakes to create the golf course and academy, and although he currently lives in Florida, he has plans to build a home in the estate. We asked him why he chose to get involved in this exciting project and why he loves this part of the world so much.
Q: You’ve travelled all over the world. What makes the KZN North Coast special?
A: The KZN North Coast is special because of its unique blend of stunning natural beauty, warm ocean waters, and a rich cultural heritage. The location of Zimbali Lakes, nestled between lush forests and the sea and literally 15 minutes from everything one needs, offers an unparalleled living experience. Q: Can you share a memory from your childhood holidays on the North Coast?
A: One of my fondest memories from my childhood holidays on the North Coast was playing golf with my father. The beautiful courses, the warm weather and the friendly people made every holiday special. After my recent visit here in April, I am even more convinced that this is where I would like to spend more time with my family after retirement from golf.
Q: Why do you think it’s worth investing in the North Coast?
A: The North Coast has seen significant growth and development over the years. Its natural beauty, coupled with its thriving tourism industry and growing infrastructure, make it a promising investment opportunity.
Q: Can you share some of the inspiration behind the home you plan on building on the North Coast?
A: For my home at Zimbali Lakes, my wife and I envision a design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature. I want it to be a place where my family and I can relax and enjoy the beautiful views, as well as the privacy and security that Zimbali Lakes provides.
Q: What do you think will stand out about the golf course?
A: What will stand out about the Zimbali Lakes golf course is the attention to detail that has gone into the construction and its player-friendly design, which has the ability to test golfers of all skill levels. The course will also offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making for a truly unique golfing experience. Bent grass greens, ocean, lakes and natural forests views will make this a very special experience.
