The glamorous and widely popular Sun City Hotel has recently under gone refurbishments to breathe new life into it.
Despite some minor improvements over the past 46 years, Sun International set about giving this leisure mecca a truly dazzling transformation last year … and we got to see the results firsthand.
You notice the sparkle from the moment you arrive. It’s selfie time … the hotel’s entrance sign shimmers in the light with back splashes of the waterfall welcoming you to your destination. Beautifully sculptured granite floors with intricate patterns and a light display ceiling dazzles at the newly designed entrance, where a frameless view offers an unobstructed sightline of the hotel lobby.
The rooms, too, have been elegantly refurbished. Think a soft and harmonious palate of white and soft neutrals, lifted by pops of warmer gold and turquoise. And the new contemporary bathrooms have a massive rain shower head and large mirror (another selfie coming up!). Super comfy king size beds and a balcony overlooking the stunning resort add to the appeal.
Breakfast is served from the Sun Terrace restaurant that has also undergone a stunning transformation – an inspired fusion of Tswana cultural heritage and sleek, contemporary design.
And those breakfasts, thankfully, haven’t changed. A generous buffet that can be enjoyed inside or outside, where you can sip on a mimosa and tuck into a freshly baked rich and buttery Danish pastry, while listening to the birds chirping gazing at panoramic views of lush greenery. Always a treat.
You won’t want to waste any time getting yourself a spot to relax downstairs by the giant octagon pool. The resort pool area is now a multi-layered sanctuary, blending family fun with elevated sophistication. Children’s play zones ensure carefree moments for families, while private cabanas with daybeds offer seclusion for those seeking refined relaxation. These elevated retreats include refreshment stations, lounge-style dining, and personalised service, delivering the ultimate in exclusivity.
Make sure you take your appetite when you visit … there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat.
The Raj will spice things up with their bold dishes made by chefs from all from around India. Shun De serves up an unforgettable sizzling beef dish that comes to your table steamy. Hard Rock Cafe doesn’t just sell burgers, they sell the experience and a few cool collectable goodies at their shop too. In a rush… Sausage Saloon offers a lineup of award-winning sausages that will be ready to grab and go.
Then there is Legends that makes a mean rump steak and are known for their oxtail and live music. We heard the popcorn machine works overtime at the Candy Shop making a great snack while roaming around … and who doesn’t enjoy a sweet spoil.
If like us, you enjoy some guilty pleasures, there are a few fabulous options to keep you happy.
A place that lives up to its name is Vibes. This sports bar allows you to watch the game on a big screen, shoot some pool and follow it up with some shots. The Revue Bar is where excitement meets luxury offering fiery pole dancing while relaxing in a booth sipping on some champs. And Sun City Casino is always a must stop to hit the slots. Ready, set… Roulette is where – with a little luck and betting against the odds – you might even walk away with some extra cash.
