Rejuvenated and renewed

After months of no events, no celebrations and minimal time spent on pampering, a trip to Umhlanga’s sparkling new Skin Renewal Aesthetic Clinic to experience their indulgent Hydra Touch Facial was exactly what the doctor ordered.

I’ll admit, being invited for luxurious, pampering facials that promise to leave your skin radiant and glowing has to be right up at the top of the ‘perks of being a journalist’ list. The fact that this time it was at a brand new, state-of-the-art aesthetics clinic at the trendy new Umhlanga Arch, made it all the more an exciting spoil.
A visit to Skin Renewal Umhlanga is an experience. The stunning, upmarket rooms and top-of-the-range facilities are all wonderful, but I quickly realised that it is the people who work there that make the experience a memorable one.

My medical therapist for the day was the bubbly and enthusiastic Roxy Bruneau, who has been with Skin Renewal for over five years, having spent the last three as a senior therapist at the Durban branch.

I was a little nervous, having not spent much time in an aesthetics environment, but Roxy quickly set my mind at easy and started the consult with an in-depth skin analysis and ‘before’ photographs. Clearly passionate about skin and achieving results for her clients, Roxy offered me valuable advice for possible future treatments that would benefit my skin.
Whether you’re the kind of woman who has regular skin treatments, or someone who only manages to have a facial once in a blue moon, the Hydra Touch Facial is a relaxing, rejuvenating treatment that is perfect for anyone with dull, dry skin – or those looking for some extra ‘glow’ before a special event. Perfect for the festive season!

The treatment is relaxing, but also results-driven, so there is definitely a sensation that ‘things are getting done’ on your skin. It combines hydra-dermabrasion, gentle chemical resurfacing, transdermal mesotherapy and skin tightening … which I’ll admit sounds quite scary, but it’s all gentle and non-invasive and there is no downtime required afterwards. In fact, it leaves your skin feeling renewed, rehydrated and very ‘alive’. The Hydra Touch facial is good for all skin types and does wonders for puffiness, fine lines, dehydration, age spots, enlarged pores and loads more.

Skin Renewal aesthetic clinic has a wide range of aesthetic offerings, including injectables, chemical skin peels, laser and light treatments, mesotherapy, medical facials, scar and vein removal and so much more. Clients can also enjoy a pampering beauty treatment in the form of waxing, tinting massages, manis and pedis and body wraps and exfoliation treatments.

Their COVID-19 regulations are all in place, and visits include filling in a detailed health questionnaire as well as donning ‘shoe covers’ as you enter to keep from bringing unwanted nasties into the spotless clinic.

There has never been a better time for some destressing and self-spoiling and I guarantee the Hydra Touch facial will leave you feeling pampered and glowing! I’m already planning my next visit.
