Pretty little thing

The latest offering from Suzuki is good to look at, and easy to drive – we took the Fronx for a spin around town and fell in love.

When we were invited to test drive the new Suzuki Fronx, we were excited to see what the hype was all about. The new addition to the brand’s crossover segment is already proving popular on the North Coast – largely thanks to its very competitive price point, as well as its impressive fuel efficiency.

The first thing that stands out on seeing the Fronx is its modern and very good-looking design. We drove a top-of-the-range model in a chic shade of Grandeur Grey Pearl, but there are a few other colour options available, including a fun Lucent Orange Pearl, Celestial Pearl and an Opulent Red, as well as the more classic shades of silver and black. The overall look is sporty and compact, but it should be noted that there is still plenty of interior space and the boot size is well-suited to a young family – even a pram should
fit comfortably.

Best described as a crossover, the Fronx boasts some SUV-coupé elements, including a ground clearance of 170 millimetres. When it comes to driveability, the model feels completely effortless and smooth, even on some of Umhlali’s bumpy roads!
Inside, you can expect all the bells and whistles that you’ll need for ease and comfort, including a reverse camera, cruise control, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 9-inch infotainment screen and 360-degree camera. The dashboard layout is uncluttered and user-friendly, with a modern look and feel.

It goes without saying that fuel efficiency is a factor for most of us these days, and the Fronx doesn’t disappoint on this front – one can expect around 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres.

The local team at Suzuki in Umhlali says that the Fronx has sparked an interest in parents with young children (because of its luggage space), as well as those who are looking for a run-around car that’s not too heavy on petrol. With the price ranging from R279 900 to R335 900, depending on the model, the car certainly delivers value for money. We loved taking this beauty for a spin, and were definitely impressed with what it has to offer.
