Sandy toes and cocktails by the pool…hello December holidays! We are all excited about the upcoming summer break and the much-needed time to relax at the beach and in the pool.

Enjoy all the summer fun without any of the sunburn with these clever sunscreen tips to help you get the most out of your sunscreen while giving your skin the best protection:

  1. Give it time: Sunscreen needs a little time to create a protective barrier, so apply it 15 – 30 minutes before going into the sun.
  2. Apply the right amount: Use 30ml or two tablespoons of sunscreen on the average body. Cover all exposed areas and don’t forget your ears, neck, top of your feet and back of your hands.
  3. Re-apply regularly: Sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours. If you are swimming or playing sport and therefore sweat a fair amount, you will need to reapply more frequently. Remember that reflective surfaces such as water or snow will expose you to even more sun, so you want to keep reapplying well and often.
  4. Give your face extra protection: Be sure to apply your sunscreen to your face before applying your make-up, and don’t forget about your lips as well.
  5. Broad-spectrum protection: When choosing your sunscreen, check that it protects against UVA and UVB rays. One of our fave brands is Everysun, as it is offers family friendly sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection.
