Living her best life

Life coach, Pilates instructor, and media creative – Timera Ramlal believes in the power of balance.

With her natural smile and genuine interest in others, Timera is one of those people who radiates authenticity. Although she makes it look easy, her journey to self-love has taken time and plenty of hard work. She decided to pursue a career in life coaching after realising that her own belief system was holding her back from personal growth. “I recognised the need to explore different modalities to heal my own trauma and redefine my beliefs and values,” she admits. “This journey of self-discovery was essential for me to live authentically and aligned with my truth and purpose.”

Through life coaching, Timera found ways to reinvent and rediscover herself. Now, she’s dedicated to helping others embark on similar journeys of self-discovery and empowerment, guiding them towards living their most fulfilling lives. She was drawn to the world of wellness from a young age and remembers always being fascinated with health. “Even as a child, I loved experimenting and creating my own herbal remedies from plants and flowers,” she says. “My passion stemmed from a deep desire to see others around me happy, healthy and loved by themselves and others.”

Besides her work as a life coach, Timera also teaches Pilates at Kico Life in Ballito. It’s a practice she describes as the perfect blend of science and self-awareness. “Through Pilates, I strengthen my core and engage muscles that are often overlooked, fostering a deep connection with my body,” she says. “This intentional workout leaves me feeling empowered and energised.” With a post-graduate degree in psychology, and extensive training in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), reiki and BASI Pilates, Timera is passionate about holistic wellness and is dedicated to getting to grips with the intricate connections between mind, body and spirit.

Her advice to others seeking balance and health is to actively commit to self-care. “It begins with a conscious decision to choose a better quality of life for yourself, “ she explains. “I recommend carving out at least 10 minutes each day to prioritise activities that make you feel happier, more grounded and healthier; and don’t be afraid to invest in yourself in this respect.”

Movement, along with mindful eating, is key. “Remember, prioritising self-care isn’t selfish – it’s essential for your well-being,” she says. “By taking care of yourself first, you’ll be better equipped to give to others and contribute positively to the world around you.”

Beyond the wellness space, Timera has also joined forces with her brothers Shren and Jiten to start Shren Media, a niche content creation agency. Together, the siblings work with local businesses to tell stories through social media. She’s also releasing a book later this year and has a few other exciting projects for the year ahead.

Originally from La Mercy, Timera has cherished memories of growing up on the beaches of Umdloti and Ballito. “My connection to nature remains a source of joy and inspiration,” she says. “Despite spending a decade in Johannesburg, the pull of my hometown was irresistible, ultimately leading me back to the North Coast – a place that holds a special place in my heart.” She is currently based in Umdloti and absolutely loves life in the area. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time at the beach and at coffee shops and can often be seen out and about with her beautiful border collie, Coco Bean. “Every moment here feels like a breath of tropical paradise!” she says. “Life on the North Coast is a celebration of nature, community and the simple pleasures.”
