Nic Papadopoulos and Janet Aldworth have collaborated in creating a bespoke food tour through Greece. It’s the culmination of two lifetimes devoted to their passions – food and travel.

Nic, the celebrated foodie and former owner of Eat Greek, a family-run restaurant known for its hospitality and authentic Greek cuisine, has always believed in the power of food to bring people together. Janet,  managing director of Sure Voyager Travel, has spent over 50 years crafting unforgettable travel experiences, with a deep focus on culture and culinary discovery. Together, they’ve created a ten-day journey that combines their shared love for Greece, its rich traditions and the joy of connection. “Greek food is about so much more than moussaka and baklava,” Nic explains with a smile. “It’s about discovering those undiscovered dishes – the ones passed down through generations. Food connects people.” Janet agrees, adding, “This tour is about so much more than visiting beautiful places – it’s about tasting, learning, and truly experiencing the heart of Greek culture.”

A TASTE OF AUTHENTICITY
The journey begins in Athens, where travellers will walk through historic markets, learn to make tzatziki, and explore hidden artisan spots. Janet meticulously scouted each stop on the route herself, sampling everything from traditional dishes to local wines. “Athens has this vibrant food culture,” Nic says. “You get to know the people behind the food. They’ll hand you a slice of feta or tell you the story of their honey – it’s magic.”

From the hustle of Athens, the tour shifts gears to the serene island of Kefalonia, where Nic’s family roots run deep. Think white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and long, lazy lunches overlooking olive groves. The group will indulge in local wines, fresh seafood, and lesser-known specialties like Kefalonian meat pie and rooster slow-cooked in red wine. Janet has discovered a number of gems that you’d simply never stumble across as a tourist, and is excited to share them.

A NEW ERA OF TRAVEL
Post-pandemic, the way people travel has evolved. “There’s been a shift,” explains Janet. “Travellers are more focused now, seeking quality experiences over quantity. They’re after enrichment – be it through food, culture or connections.”
This ethos is perfectly embodied in the tour. It’s not about ticking destinations off a list but immersing yourself in the lifestyle. As Nic puts it, “Greek hospitality isn’t a show; it’s a way of life. Meals aren’t rushed. They’re a time to relax, share stories and connect.”

THE WOMAN BEHIND THE VISION
The Greece food tour is not just a collaboration but a testament to Janet’s vision and passion. With over 50 years in the travel industry, Janet has devoted herself to crafting authentic experiences. She personally researched every destination, sampling the restaurants, tasting the food, and savouring the wines to ensure an unforgettable journey. “I’ve always believed that food is one of the best ways to truly understand a culture,” Janet says. Her enthusiasm for sharing these discoveries is the heartbeat of the tour. “This is my dream come to life – a way to connect people through the universal language of food.”

SPECIAL MEMORIES
Nic’s deep ties to Kefalonia, along with his years of culinary expertise, brings authenticity to each bite and every moment. “I’ve spent countless holidays in Greece with my family,” he says. “The best meals were always off the beaten track – slow-cooked goat shank, fresh bread and homemade wine. That’s what we want to share.”
Ultimately, the tour is about creating memories. Whether it’s learning to cook under the Acropolis, savouring local wines, or sharing laughter over a laden Greek table, every moment is designed to linger long after the trip ends.
“You know you’re in Greece the moment you taste the tomatoes,” Nic laughs. “They’re so sweet and juicy!”
