If you’ve been thinking it’s time for a new look, now’s the moment to make it happen. This season, it’s all about luxurious, flattering styles that feel effortless but look high-end. We asked Ballito hairstylist Meg Parish to tell us about her favourite trends…
Champagne blonde
Warm tones are everything right now, and champagne blonde is leading the way. Think sunkissed strands with a golden hour glow – soft, flattering and luminous.
Expensive brunette
Glossy, rich brunettes with subtle balayage are the ultimate “low maintenance, high impact” colour. This look gives depth, shine and a hint of dimension without endless touch-ups.
Strawberry copper
A dreamy blend of soft reds and copper tones, strawberry copper is playful yet natural, perfect for anyone wanting a pop of warmth with a romantic edge.
Bardot bangs
Soft, split fringes with a vintage French-girl feel are having a moment. Feminine, face-framing and oh-so-flirty.
Old money bob
Sleek lines, a classic shape and a luxurious finish – the “old money bob” is chic, sophisticated and brimming with quiet confidence.
Face-framing layers
A timeless favourite for a reason – soft layers that contour the face and add natural movement. Flattering on almost everyone and easy to style.
Meet Meg
This stylist is making waves on the national stage.
When Meg was recently named a finalist in the Paul Mitchell Hairstylist of the Year Awards, she was the only representative from KZN – and she made sure to stand out. Her show was a bold celebration of diversity and individuality, a direct response to industry comments that models should conform to outdated beauty ideals.
Meg’s segment featured eight models of different looks, personalities and styles, with every detail – from hair to outfits to choreography – planned and executed by her in just three minutes on stage. The message was clear: beauty is not one-size-fits-all.
As part of her achievement at the competition, she has been awarded the opportunity to complete an advanced colour course in Rome.
For Meg, the experience was about more than awards. “It taught me to step out of my comfort zone and to trust my abilities,” she says.
“And now, I get to take that passion to Rome
next year.”
