Initially from Harrismith, the 37-year-old Kevin Stevens moved to Bloemfontein to attend school at Grey College from Grade 10 and nestled his roots firmly in Bloemfontein. He went on to become one of the best local financial advisors.
Kevin is a loving husband and a devoted father to three boys. He is also a financial advisor and key individual of TBS Brokers, an intimate authorised financial services provider (FSP) that consists of five employees. It was founded by Stevens in 2016.
“My role model, the late Theo du Toit, was also a financial advisor and once asked me what I wanted to do for a living. I had no answer at the time. He then told me that he has a strong belief that I would thrive as a financial advisor and saw something in me. I will always be grateful to him for his belief in me,” Kevin reminisced.
Kevin was forced to look for another alternative in 2013 when his professional rugby career came to an abrupt halt as his contract was not renewed. “As a newlywed, I had no other choice but to start looking for a different career path to build a stable future for my family.” This was where his mentor, Du Toit, guided Kevin into becoming a financial advisor and was enrolled as a young advisor.
At 29 years of age, Kevin decided to start and oversee his own insurance brokerage. “Fast-forward eight years along the line, I have yet to regret this decision,” Kevin said.
He encourages young men to put in the hard work and develop strong work ethics. “But to really make a difference and to stand out a ‘head’ above the rest, you need to be willing to give back to the community, as the community in the end becomes your clients and your biggest supporters.”
