Berdine de Necker is the chef at Lejit Lekker in Bloemfontein. According to her, she learned how to cook at an early age and became fascinated by it.
“I watched a lot of cooking shows and it turned into a passion and a career,” she says.
She is in charge of the menu planning, writing of recipes and costings for all new dishes at Lejit.
“We like to experiment and create new things and then we will play around with new ingredients and cook new dishes,” says Berdine.
She believes that corporate spaces have evolved and allowed woman in. “Woman are being seen and recognised in the work place more, we are being treated as equals.”
Berdine says team work is what makes Lejit successful. “Without an amazing team there would be no business. Then, we have an amazing Boss Lady Joanita. Her passion, compassion and strive for the business is just amazing.”
