We’re mad about a proper Sunday lunch … roast meat and potatoes and veggies and something really sweet for pud. Add an amazing view, and somewhere for an afternoon walk … heaven! So we’re delighted to hear that Brahman Hills, one of our favourite Midlands spots, has just introduced a Sunday carvery and buffet lunch at their Stables Restaurant.
Modelled on the original stables of the property, the restaurant has a rustic Midlands farm look and field … it opens out onto an expansive lawn with a large fire pit for cooler days; a horse chestnut tree providing a shady canopy for lazy summer afternoons.
The buffet tables are laden with everything from soup and smoked trout to roast beef and chicken, lamb bredie and seared line fish, to malva pudding and lemon meringue pie and cheeses and so much more. And it’s the Midlands … so everything’s fresh and organic and free range, too.
It’s a fabulous spot for kids, too .. which is lucky, since if you take your under 12s with you (and you should!), they eat for free (one child per adult booked). The lunch costs R295 each (additional children under 12 pay R145), which includes an arrival drink … wine, draught on tap or fruit juice.
It’s perfectly situated in the Blue Crane Nature Reserve in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands … so an easy drive from Durban, and well-worth planning a stop for those travelling down to the coast from inland.
Every Sunday, booking essential. Details: 033.266.6965 or www.brahmanhills.co.za
