Oh … we do so drink pink. Particularly if it’s this lovely De Krans Pinotage Rosé. De Krans Wines is in the warm Klein Karoo, giving its grapes more intense fruit flavours, and the Pinotage Rosé 2020 – all delicately light pink with a refreshing, crisp acidity – has loads of red fruit flavours on the palate. This wine is currently the fastest growing wine in the De Krans Wine portfolio and for good reason – since changing to the Pinotage grape around three years ago, the wine has quietly been racking up multiple awards … winning golds and double golds left, right and centre. You’ll find it for around R68 a bottle.
• De Krans The Original Cape Pink is made from traditional port varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca and Tinta Amarela and is a wonderful, vibrant, rose petal pink port-style wine, with soft, elegant, red fruit flavours of strawberries and cherries, and a hint of candy floss. It’s really sensational on crushed ice, but can also be used creatively in cocktails. It costs around R65.
