From the moment we stepped onto the grounds at Nirox Sculpture Park, we felt the instant calmness that nature brings.

This made for the perfect setting for the launch of The Macallan Harmony Collection, a brand that expresses their deep-rooted connections to nature with their use of natural raw materials and sustainable packaging. After a simple, yet delicious whisky sour welcome drink, our palates were ready to take on a three-course meal. And then there was Fire team, which was served alongside three very sophisticated Macallan whisky’s. Presenting these pairing was brand ambassador Sechaba Sello, making sure the afternoon flowed as smooth as the whisky, giving us a few nifty tips on how to savour the flavour!

First dish to land on our table was Gambas Asadas (grilled prawns, cooked with garlic, parsley and lemon). This delicious starter was paired with The Macallan single malt scotch whisky (12-year-old, triple cask matured) which worked well with the lemon notes in the dish.

Mains was a Kabeljou fish fillet with grilled potatoes and salsa verde served with their 15-year-old double cask whisky.

The final and by far the favourite course was the Chocolate Marquise that came with a shot of the limited edition – The Macallan Harmony Collection Rich Cacao.

 

One can appreciate this rich single malt whisky crafted from the combination of sherry seasoned European oak casks and American oak casks having evident vanilla notes, all making up a deep, dark chocolate profile. It’s pure luxury from the colour of toasted cacao beans to the aroma of oak and zesty lime to the taste of honey and vanilla with a lingering flavour of rich chocolate.
