A trio of ideas to spoil mum

Make time, this month, to shop for mum. We’ve our eye on this Monsieur Christian Lacroix designed Desigual Lacroix squared foulard with orchid print. Swoon. R969 from Desigual at Sandton City.

May 04: A lovely (albeit a little early in the month) mum-and-daughter outing, a girls day out, and a great bridesmaids get together. An intimate flower arranging course – all beautiful flowers and high teas, where you can bond, have some fun, and learn to arrange flowers for any occasion … from selecting the correct colours and vessels to creating beautiful bouquets and table arrangements. It’s a hands-on event … so while Kate from Bloomfield Bespoke will first make arrangements, you will then, under her guidance, all make your own, which you’ll take home with you. There’ll also be table styling and inspiration and a super high tea. It’s in Hyde Park on Thursday May 4 from 9.30am, costs R1900 a person, which includes a full day tutorial, notes to take home, beautiful flowers and arrangements to take home, as well as high tea and refreshments. There are only 20 spots available, so early booking is advised via [email protected]. Should you wish to book a private flower arranging workshop party, pop them an email and they’ll put together something specially for you.

May 05: Something splendid is lined up this May to celebrate mamas. Dress in your most stylish outfit, and invite the gals (and mom) for a memorable lunch … Mama Lunch at Fairlawns. There’s bubbly on arrival and a four-course meal with dishes from Bibby’s Kitchen recipe book (think caramelized leek risotto and roast salmon with dill oil). It’s a day filled with moms who jostle work and home life and understand the importance of me time and self care. Food stylist and recipe developer Dianne Bibby will share the essence of good food, there’ll be inspiration from the beauty brand Origins Skin Care, and ending off sweet but strong are the Bean There Coffee team. PLUS leave with gorgeous gifts in hand. May 5 from noon until 4pm. Amuse Bouche at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel. Tickets from quicket.co.za, R980 per person.
