Nicole’s journey towards her dream self

Nicole Ramos Dodd takes her place among the Mrs SA Top 30

The lights at Theatre of Marcellus beamed brightly on Nicole Ramos Doddas as she received her sash taking her place amoung Mrs SA Top 30. A momentous token to the hard work and dedication, she has put in this year to make her dreams becoming a reality.

Raised in Johannesburg, has spent the past 33 years where she pursued her modelling career, graduated with a degree in Information Systems and built a career in Technology and Digital recruitment. She is focused on advocacy, empowerment, education, and continuous improvement to drive more females into the tech and digital arenas, promoting women in leadership roles, and to educate youth about the exciting future of technologies. Her efforts aim to create a more diverse, inclusive, and innovative tech industry that harnesses the talents of women and prepares the next generation for success in technology-driven careers. Nicole aims to spark interest and curiosity in tech careers from an early age.

Nicole’s decision to enter Mrs South Africa was fuelled by both personal aspiration and a deep-seated desire to create positive change. “Since childhood, participating in Mrs South Africa has always been a dream of mine. It represents an opportunity to challenge myself, grow personally, and achieve a goal that has been close to my heart for many years. Within me, there was always a compelling voice urging me to make a difference in a larger capacity and a calling to step out of my comfort zone and expand my impact. Mrs South Africa offers a significant platform to reach a broader audience, to share my values, and contribute to important conversations within our society. I hope to inspire others, especial-ly women, to pursue their dreams, embrace their strengths, and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. I want to continue to inspire others to believe in the power of their dreams and aspirations.” she explains.

Mrs South Africa is first and foremost an empowerment programme with the aim of transforming married women aged 25 to 55 into powerful leaders and forces for positive change. The pageant creates a supportive environment wherein contestants work together, learn from one another, find support, and grow their personal and professional networks.

Speaking about her experience as part of the Mrs South Africa sisterhood, she says, “The sisterhood is all about mutual support, forming friendships that last a lifetime. We encourage each other, share experiences, and provide emotional support, by understanding the challenges and pressures that we all face on a daily basis and to break that self-doubt and fear that I’m not good enough. Sisterhood is about women coming together in a common pursuit. It fosters a sense of unity and solidarity among contestants, promoting respect and celebration of each other’s strengths, achievements and to uplift one another – building that lifelong connection. This platform demonstrates to audiences the importance of women supporting each other, regardless of the outcome of the competition and that together we can pursue our dreams, showcase our talents, and advocate for causes we believe in.” says Nicole.

Joani Jacobs, CEO of Mrs South Africa, notes that the programme received a record number of applicants in 2024, making the competition fiercer than ever.

“The judges faced a really difficult task in selecting the winners from such a strong group of contestants, and this year’s Top 30 represents some of South Africa’s most incredible, inspirational women. We’ve been so proud to walk this journey beside them as they’ve pushed themselves to break through their limiting beliefs, and discover just what they’re actually capable of,” she says.

“They’ve taken to each challenge laid before them with ease, and they truly embody the spirit of strength, positivity, and grace that define Mrs South Africa. We look forward to watching them take the final steps in their self-development journey, and making their mark as formidable female leaders and social advocates.”
