Walking through the NH Johannesburg Sandton and it’s as if everything is warm-tinted … soft shades with gold accents catch your eye throughout the hotel.
With so many places to wonder off to – from restaurants and bars to ballrooms and executive lounges – it makes for a lovely City of Gold staycation spot.

We would urge you to take time to lounge by the pool bar area and soak up the Winter sun rays alongside the oversized, uniquely designed pool. It’s all palm trees and light music playing in the background, which sends you into full relaxation mode.

Indoors, The Faces Lounge and Bar area has seen many people … there’s a wall filled with portraits of well-known faces as a reminder of this. It’s a casual spot, where you can sip on a fruity cocktail and whet your appetite with light bites. Just up a level you will find Tradewinds Restaurant, where you can wine and dine a la carte style. Think cured salmon, crusted venison and duck confit. We tucked into a beautifully prepared rib eye steak and the chef sure knew how to make a tasty peppercorn sauce to match. And the apple mousse dessert … art on a plate!
Breakfasts are delightful at Tradewinds – a generous buffet with a live cooking station, so your eggs are made to order just how you like them. The restaurant leads out to a well-kept garden where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee or select your choice of a variety of teas.

While staying over, we experienced how spacious the one-bedroom suites are … and there is no need to leave your room as you are fully catered for with the add on of a dining table, lounge area and full-size work desk.
Ascetically, it’s a mix of old and new … and there are the most gorgeous cityscape views. And we are easily taken in when given a good oversized pillow, comfy gowns and the option to shower or bath.
Looking for some live entertainment … Candlelight Concerts light up the hotel’s ballroom with a warm glow. A multi-sensory musical experience where String Quartet enlightens you to harmonious sounds. Coming up is the Candlelight: Coldplay vs Imagine Dragons concert on July 12 and 26. Having already attended a Candlelight Concert, we can tell you, you are in for a treat.

While our stay was pure leisure, this hotel is well equipped for business with meeting and event spaces, and is only two kilometres from Nelson Mandela Square and Sandton Gautrain Station.
There are 329 rooms, and rates are from R1755 inclusive of breakfast.
