The Totalsports Women’s Race is set to light up the streets of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban on National Women’s Day, Wednesday, 9 August 2023, in support of PinkDrive.

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is a fantastic celebration of health and wellness,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Taking place across three cities on National Women’s Day, each event will feature two fantastic routes, a 5km and 10km, making it accessible to a larger audience. Whether you run it or walk it, the decision is yours, as long as you have a fantastic experience.”

“In Cape Town the event will start at Grand Parade in front of the Cape Town City Hall. Known to be a little hilly, the 10km route in the Mother City will take runners on a historical journey through District 6, Parliament, and the Company Gardens. The 5km route will also start at Grand Parade and will take runners past District 6. This route is mostly flat with two fair climbs. With the iconic Table Mountain as the backdrop and the fresh sea air, runners and walkers can look forward to falling in love with the Mother City all over again.”

Joburg entrants will be challenged by a few more hills than their fellow runners in Cape Town and Durban,” continues Meyer. “The good news however is that with the hills come the downhills. Whether you’ve entered the 10km or 5km event, you are sure to have a terrific time with family and friends from start to finish. What makes the Totalsports Women’s Race even more special is that you are guaranteed to also make new friends. Both races start and finish at the Mark’s Park Sports Club.”

“Runners in Durban will be happy to hear that the Totalsports Women’s Race Durban route is fast and flat,” confirms Meyer. “Weather permitting, we are sure to see a number of PBs being set. The 10km route will include Snell Parade, the Promenade and Estuary Pathway. Iconic landmarks to look out for will be the Moses Mabhida Stadium and scenic beach, sea, and river estuary views. Similar to the 10km route, the 5km will also ensure a memorable experience, but won’t include the Promenade and Estuary Path.”

In closing Meyer adds, “We can’t wait to see an ‘ocean of pink’ take over the streets of these three iconic cities on National Women’s Day. Entries are filling up fast, so enter today to be part of the action and #DoWhatMovesYou with Totalsports and PinkDrive.”

Spectacular on-route activations by event partners and sponsors, including Totalsports, Absa, Nike, Coca Cola, Chery, and several others, await runners and walkers in each of the three cities.

“We are honoured to be a part of the 2023 Totalsports Women’s Race on Women’s Day. This race celebrates the strength, resilience, and empowerment of women, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of such a remarkable occasion. We are looking forward to a fun-filled 10km and 5km race across the three cities. Along the route, the runners will come across our Absa Encouragement Zone, where our colleagues and dancers will be cheering them on as they continue to tackle the race,” says Absa’s Group Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer, Sydney Mbhele.

“We encourage all participants to be a force for good by supporting Absa to raise funds and donate to the communities in which we operate, by simply joining Team Absa Walk/Run on Strava and logging kilometres walked or run. For every 1km ran/walked, Absa will donate R1 towards a worthy cause in the local community,” adds Mbhele.
