The Vilaca Racing Time Attack Championship roared into action on Saturday, March 8, at Red Star Raceway in Delmas, setting the stage for an exhilarating season of motorsport competition.
“With a packed grid of 56 cars and drivers, the event launched an exciting season of high-speed action. As South Africa’s premier motor track racing series, the Vilaca Racing Time Attack provides a unique platform for drivers to push their limits, showcasing their skills in a controlled and safe environment,” said Jono Vilaca, founder of Vilaca Racing.

Racing Against the Clock
Unlike traditional racing formats, where competitors battle for position on the track, Time Attack is all about setting the fastest lap times.
This format allows drivers to focus purely on precision and performance without the pressure of collisions.

Standout Performances
The opening round saw fierce competition, with standout performances from both seasoned racers and rising stars.
One of the most inspiring stories of the day was JP Glad’s remarkable comeback. Named Driver of the Day, Glad raced with determination despite recovering from a medical procedure just a week prior.

Safety and Sportsmanship at the Forefront
Round 1 was a resounding success, with zero incidents reported. This reflects the high standard of organization and the commitment of both the drivers and event organizers to maintaining a safe yet competitive environment.
“The level of sportsmanship and professionalism displayed by everyone involved was exceptional,” added Vilaca. “We’re excited to see how the championship unfolds.”

What’s Next?
As the season progresses, competitors will fine-tune their cars and strategies, eager to improve their lap times.

With rookies making waves and veterans pushing their limits, the Vilaca Racing Time Attack Championship promises an electrifying journey ahead.
Don’t miss the next event on May 31 at Zwartkops Raceway, where the action is only set to intensify.
