Rum Day – tonic that rum!

Since its launch in 2005, Fever-Tree has explored pairing each one of its mixers with just about every kind of spirit. Friday, 16th of August is International Rum Day, and we’re sharing the perfect serve Rum & Tonic… You should definitely give it a go!

All rum is distilled from sugarcane by-products and then aged in wooden barrels. It’s the ageing process that determines the colour of the rum, for example, when rum is aged in oak casks it becomes ‘golden’ or ‘dark’ whereas rum that is aged in stainless steel tanks remains virtually colourless (‘white’).

Be it white or gold, pairing rum with a premium Indian tonic is a delicious combination. The bitterness of the tonic balances out the sweet notes in white rum and compliments the aromas of lightly aged golden rums. Some even sing the praises of dark rum and tonic creations, particularly with a splash of fresh zesty lime juice.

Of course, your choice of Fever-Tree premium tonic varietals is not limited to Indian and Refreshingly Light alone. Consider the botanicals of your rum before pairing with Fever-Trees range of tonic varietals, which also include Mediterranean, Aromatic and Elderflower.

Make a Rum & Tonic

We love a good white rum mixed with Fever-Trees premium Indian tonic water. Follow the usual gin and tonic recipe replacing the gin with rum. Rum and tonic make fast friends when accompanied by ice and lime.
