Patrick Rulore shares the impact the Sasol New Signatures art competition has had on his life and career and calls all young artists to enter this year’s competition.
Since his victory, Patrick Rulore’s career has experienced a significant boost, affirming his artistic journey and providing him with numerous opportunities. One notable milestone is his second solo exhibition hosted by the Bag Factory Artist Studios which has now travelled to the Sasol Art Gallery. The exhibition can be viewed by appointment until July 11, as well as during regional submissions for Sasol New Signatures 2023 on 6 & 7 June. “Winning the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition was a life-changing moment for me. It provided the confirmation I had been seeking in my career and opened doors to incredible opportunities. I am humbled to have become an inspiration to upcoming artists in South Africa” said Rulore.
With submissions just a week away, Rulore emphasised the importance of self-belief, originality, and perseverance in pursuing an artistic career. He acknowledged the challenges artists face and urged them to remain patient and open to learning. Rulore stated: “Being an artist is not an easy road, but it is a journey worth pursuing. Stay true to your vision, be open to new experiences, and have the endurance to overcome obstacles along the way.”
