You can’t help but melt at the sight of a mother holding her newborn baby, right? Talented Ballito-based photographer, Taryn van Rensburg, snapped this gorgeous shot of professional dancer and performer Simone Mann with her tiny little baby Daisy, and I’m sure you’ll agree the result is just dreamy. We caught up with Simone (or Sisi as she’s known), who has travelled the world performing on some of the biggest musical theatre stages, to find out a little more about her newest and most important role yet … that of a mom.
Some people are just born with a heart to help others and there is no doubt in my mind that nurses are amongst those people. This month, as we honour World Nurses Day on 12 May (which is also Florence Nightingale’s birthday), we chat to one of Ballito’s hardest-working, most dedicated and experienced nurse practitioners, Sister Trish Idensohn. We also meet Prathisha, a first-time author who has written an inspiring book aimed at helping people ‘bounce back’ after going through trying times (and haven’ we all been there in the last year!?).
On the food front, we check out the fabulous (and very popular) Kuta-Kola restaurant on Ballito’s beach front, which offers an amazing variety of exciting meals and absolutely phenomenal sea views. We also get inspired by a gorgeous holiday home that was recently revamped and offer some useful tips for successfully transforming a house into an AirBnB.
May is traditionally our ‘bridal’ edition and this year we are so excited to showcase some very beautiful, very special real weddings.
