Wear pink and get out and about this October!

01 OCTOBER 2022
Almost everyone knows someone who has either been affected by breast cancer themselves, or has someone close to them affected by it. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this month PinkDrive needs your help. A health sector NGO founded in 2009, PinkDrive believes that prevention is better than cure and early detection can prolong a life. And we couldn’t agree more. One of the best-known cancer organisations in the country, PinkDrive aims to reach as many people as possible (especially the medically uninsured and those in rural areas) with their mobile mammogram truck. Currently raising funds to obtain a new mammogram machine for its truck, PinkDrive calls on SA residents and corporates to become involved and partner with the organisation. 29 SEPTEMBER TO 9 OCTOBER
Experience the magic that is inside us all, as Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp takes to the stage from 29 September to 9 October at The Globe at Suncoast. The classic ‘rags to riches’ tale with a young hero, a beautiful princess and an evil villain is made complete with genies, wishes and magic.

The story is one of the best known and most retold fairy tales of all time and the perfect outing for families these holidays! Brought to stage by Durban’s own Astrid Productions, the show has been reimagined for the stage by an international team of award-winning theatre artists and a cast of 20 of South Africa’s best young and established actors and dancers.

23 OCTOBER
Get your bikes ready … it’s Amashova time once more! The annual Amashova Durban Classic will again take place on 23 October – and entries are open to anyone with a bike and helmet! The oldest cycling race in SA, the Amashova has full road closure as it this year returns to follow the famous Comrades route from PMB to Durban. Well-known for being a picturesque race with challenging routes that will see cyclists (young and old, beginners to advanced) participating in either the 38km, 65km or 106km routes. This is a great family event and cyclists and spectators alike can attend the Lifestyle Expo that takes places at The Globe at Suncoast (which is the official home of the event) as part of the registration during race weekend. Late entries on the weekend of the race will be available and there are both corporate and charity packages available.
