Tracey Richardson, the creative force behind Bites of Joy, is proof that sometimes the best things in life come from the most unexpected beginnings.
“I was never into baking,” Tracey admits with a laugh. “But I took a beginner’s course just for fun, and I was hooked.” From there, her love for detailed decorating blossomed, and she began sharing her creations with family and friends. Before she knew it, her biscuits became the highlight of parties, baby showers and even corporate events.
When Tracey relocated to Ballito from Middleburg two years ago, she faced the challenge of building a customer base in a new town. “I was scared because I didn’t know anyone,” she admits. “But the community here has been so supportive. It’s such a friendly place.” In just two years, her reputation for creating beautiful, personalised biscuits has grown significantly.
Her biscuits aren’t just a treat – they’re a piece of edible art. From unicorns and cartoon characters for children’s parties to branded biscuits for corporate clients like Woolworths Café and Estée Lauder, Tracey’s designs add a memorable touch to any event.
While juggling late nights and hectic schedules, Tracey’s favourite part of her work is seeing the joy her creations bring. “When customers collect their orders and they’re thrilled, it makes all the hard work worth it,” she says.
Looking to the future, Tracey plans to expand her business by hosting beginner decorating classes, a move she believes will bring people together and inspire others to explore their creative side. For now, she’s savouring every moment of her sweet success.
