What does a decade of quiet, consistent care look like?
In Ballito, it looks like clean pavements, safe walkways, and a welcoming beachfront, thanks to the work of the Ballito Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP), which recently marked 10 years of service to the precinct.
Established in 2015, the UIP has played a vital role in enhancing the public environment, ensuring that Ballito remains a safe, clean and sought-after warm water lifestyle destination on the North Coast.
Over the past decade, the UIP has facilitated hundreds of interventions, from repairing stormwater infrastructure and upgrading promenade access to repainting curbs, improving verge landscaping, and maintaining high-traffic public spaces.
To showcase this transformation, the UIP recently launched its Progress Portfolio, a digital, visual guide featuring before-and-after images, key milestones, and insights into how long-term precinct care delivers lasting impact.
“It’s often the work you don’t notice that makes the biggest difference,” says Dieter Fittkau, Operations Manager at the UIP. “We’ve spent the last 10 years showing up every day and the results speak for themselves.”
“The Progress Portfolio is more than a document. It’s a story of how public space, when maintained consistently, builds pride, confidence and value in a place,” adds Precinct Manager Thierry Leclezio.
The Portfolio is updated annually and available for public download via the Ballito UIP website.
As Ballito continues to grow, the UIP remains committed to building on this foundation, one clean street, one cared-for verge and one safe walkway at a time. Because when we look after our spaces, we build a place we’re proud to call home.
