Ballito makeup artist and content creator Priyanka Moodley has built a career around effortless glamour and confident transformations. We chatted to her about her work, life on the North Coast, and why enhancing natural features is at the heart of everything she does.
There’s a calm confidence to Priyanka Moodley’s makeup chair – the kind that turns pre-event nerves into quiet excitement. For many brides and clients, it becomes a space where the morning rush slows down, and the transformation begins.
Her creative journey started long before brushes and palettes. Growing up with a love for art and drawing, she naturally developed an eye for detail, but it was modern Indian dancing that first introduced her to the world of beauty. From the age of five, stage lights, costumes and performance makeup sparked a fascination with transformation and expression that never left her.
Turning passion into profession
While studying, Priyanka decided to take a short makeup course to explore her interest further. What began as curiosity quickly gained momentum, evolving into a clear career path in makeup artistry.
Today, she is a full-time makeup artist and has spent the past 11 years building a name for herself as a content creator in an industry that moves at lightning speed, collaborating with well-known beauty brands along the way.
Life on the North Coast
Working along the North Coast has become one of the most rewarding parts of her career. From breathtaking wedding venues to endless coastal views, inspiration is never far away.
“I get to work at some of the most beautiful wedding venues,” she says. “No matter how many times I visit, the views and atmosphere never get old. Every wedding is different, and I love being part of such a special moment in someone’s life.”
A typical bridal day starts early – often around 4am – and sets the tone for a full schedule of travel, touch-ups and on-the-go transformations. It’s a rhythm she’s grown used to: early mornings, fast-paced setups, and quiet moments of focus before the day unfolds. Despite the long hours, she says the energy of the day – and seeing her clients light up when they look in the mirror – makes it all worth it.
Soft glam, always
Priyanka’s signature style reflects the easy elegance of Ballito itself – polished, but never overdone.
“Ballito has a very stylish yet relaxed energy, and I think my work reflects that balance,” she explains. She’s all about soft, natural glam: glowing skin, soft definition, fluffy brows and neutral tones that enhance rather than hide.
She also embraces the ever-changing world of beauty trends with ease. “I don’t think there’s any trend I hate. I love trying new trends,” she says.
More than makeup
At the heart of Priyanka’s work is transformation – not just in appearance, but in confidence.
“Makeup, for me, isn’t about changing who someone is,” she says. “It’s about bringing out what’s already there.”
Being part of those moments, whether a wedding morning, milestone celebration or special event, remains the most meaningful part of what she does.
