As an all-rounded media head, Elzette Boucher-Krüger, who currently holds the OFM Content Manager position, explains that once she was exposed to the radio bug, she became “radio-active” by seizing countless creative opportunities that the medium of sound had to offer.

Elzette’s journey at OFM started as an intern in the newsroom and today she is part of the management team. As a Content Manager, her job is mostly concerned with promotions that happen outside of commercial breaks on the radio station.

“Mainly, this job is about considering which elements and execution would best serve our audience, clients, and brand. I also have the privilege of coming up with cool concepts, optimising our content, and overseeing our digital platforms.”

Producing content for such a big brand, Elzette explains that the station conducts a lot of research to stay up to date with their listeners’ preferences and also consider their clients’ changing needs.

“Everyone wants to achieve more with less, and employing technology, skills, and experience goes a long way in creating successful campaigns that don’t break the bank while creating opportunities for continued business.”

As important as it is for her to be successful at work, she relays that she also strives to ensure that success never comes at the cost of her family, sanity, or health. “We only get to be here once, so I strive to live a good life along with my loved ones. I also aim to honour the legacy of my late father through overcoming challenges with ingenuity and diligence.”

Elzette advises women to take time for themselves and find their spark, and once they do to keep that fire burning.

“Choose wisely which bricks you will add to your building towards a long-term goal, and which will cause cracks. However, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, learn from them and move on.”
