Set a trend this festive season with metallic colours, texture and glow! Kryolan Free State has put together two celebratory looks, using the same techniques with different colours and gems for you to get creative with.
Follow this step-by-step guide to achieve this look!
Step 1
Start your base with the Digital Complexion Primer (R494). Here we used the one for oily skin as our model has shine and visible pores characteristic of an oily skin type. Our Kryolan Free State Kryolan Free State Artist (MUA) used Ultra Underbase (R616) on herself as she has dehydrated skin characterised by fine lines and dullness.
Step 2
While the primer settles, start with your Eyeshadow Primer (R610) for the eyeshadow not to crease. It pops the colour intensity too!
Step 3
Now start with your eyebrows. We used the eyeshadow powder in shade K4/Nigeria small refill R143. Using a small, slanted make-up brush, fill the brows while focusing on applying more product to the tail of the brow and less to the inner brow. This is to create a shaded finish from medium application to darker and heavier at the tail. Now, comb your brows up and out to blend it all and style neat but fluffy brows.
Step 4
Next up, move on to the eyeshadow. We used the versatile Eyeshadow Variety 18 Colour Palette/V2 (R897) a must-have, go-to pallet. The following shades were used: AB22; RB40 and S8 on our model, on herself, our MUA used the colour shades Rosewood, R21/Love, and Magenta (R143). These are available separately or in a customised pallet. Start your application on the inner corner and then on the outer corner, leaving the crease and middle lid clean. Your initial application will look like two out-facing triangles. Now blend the edges to soften the lines.
Step 5
On the crease and middle eyelid use HD Living Colour/Amber R438 which is HD compatible! Pat it with a brush to intensify the colour. We used the Metallic Micro Flakes/Silver (R376) for this step.
Step 6
Next, use HD Cream Liner/Snow R429 as a cream eyeliner, and on herself she used HD Cream Liner/Aubergine. You can apply this step in a winged angle or a traditional upper liner which ends where the lashes do.
Step 7
Intensify your lashes with Supreme Volume Mascara R325 which curls and lifts the eyelashes.
Step 8
Here is a pro-Kryolan Free State MUA tip. Apply your foundation after your eyeshadow when doing these bold looks. It allows you to clean up fall out under the eye before application. We love and used Digital Complexion Fluid Foundation (R715) for our model. It is for a balanced-oily skin type. It is a lightweight liquid foundation which is self-setting, leaving a velvet matt finish. On herself our MUA used the Supracolor/Ivory R436 for dry skin, another Kryolan Free State favourite.
Step 9
Now, let’s contour. We used our Ultra Foundation Highlight/Contour Colour Circle (R472) on the cheeks, jawline, and sides of the nose for a natural, but enhanced finish.
Step 10
Time to set the make-up. For a smooth, matt finish we used the Digital Complexion Finish R715 powder on our model, and on herself our MUA used Translucent Powder TL11. It comes in different sizes. 10g R176, 20g R447, and the 60g R572.
Step 11
To add depth & glow to the look, Glamour Glow Palette with 8 Colours/Bridal R1408 was used. ‘Natural Tan’ as a further contour and for blush ‘Blush Rose’ was used on the apples of the cheeks. A highlight was added above the cheekbone using ‘Pale Tan’.
Step 12
Multi Gel (R124, 00) is your new best friend as an adhesive to stick the Body Jewels on the face and body. Jewels are a personal preference and can be adjusted or selected according to the size, colour or texture you like. We used pearls on our model and our MUA used gemstones on herself.
Step 13
To finish the look and make sure our make-up holds for hours we used Fixing Spray 75ml (R369) which creates an invisible protective film, which prolongs the life of the make-up.
